Causeway taxi services welcomed

Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber, Nabeel Kanoo, welcomed the decision by the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications to allow licensed taxis in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to transport passengers across the King Fahd Causeway.

He affirmed that the decision represents an important development in the transportation and land connectivity system between the two brotherly countries, providing more flexible and seamless mobility options.

Kano noted that the decision will contribute to enhancing the movement of people and businesses between the Bahraini and Saudi markets, while supporting key economic sectors including trade, tourism, hospitality, retail, restaurants, exhibitions, events, transport, and services.

He highlighted the King Fahd Causeway as a vital economic artery for the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressing that improving services related to cross-border movement, facilitating procedures, and diversifying transportation options will enhance mobility efficiency and strengthen the competitiveness of the business environment.

Kano commended the efforts of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, in coordination with the Public Transport Authority and the relevant authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to activate the service and establish the necessary regulatory framework. He emphasized the importance of continuing to develop the service and facilitate procedures to encourage greater utilization.

He further affirmed that this step reflects the growing economic integration between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and the continued development of trade, investment, and tourism relations between the two countries. He expressed the Bahrain Chamber’s aspiration to further develop the transportation system across the King Fahd Causeway in a manner that enhances the smooth movement of people and goods and supports shared economic opportunities between the two brotherly kingdoms.
