SUMMARY

Mr. Sameer Abdulla Nass, Chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2018, leads the dedicated efforts of the Chamber towards developing the national economy and proceeding firmly in the path of its progress. He has a strong belief that the Chamber is the true voice of the national business community as the elected members are the best representatives of it. Such belief provides him with great motivation to continue the legacy of success, in cooperation with the Chamber’s members, and provide effective solutions to all challenges, monitor the national economic situation and improve macro financial growth leading to one milestone after another in the local business environment’s list of achievements. This comes in line with the rules and principles of 2030 vision of sustainability and fair competition that aim to achieve the citizens, government and economy’s best interest. Mr. Nass holds the Chairmanship of the Union of Arab Chambers along with being the Chairman of Nass Group and Nass Corporation.

Nass Group is an international business entity with a rich history and prestigious global presence in civil construction and general trading industries, such as: engineering, manufacturing, marine and industrial services trading. Mr. Nass leads the only Bahraini family business that is publicly listed and is pioneering in the fields of building materials, heavy lifts, shipbuilding, landscaping, waste management and wholesale food. The Group is responsible of constructing a large number of famous landmarks in the Kingdom of Bahrain, including Bahrain World Trade Center and The Avenues Shopping Mall.

Mr. Nass manages the business while following a number of essential principles including being up to the standards, delivering more than what is promised, ensuring highest quality and improving administrational structuring in order to increase productivity and efficiency. He stands by the fact that specialization is key of success, however, having experience and making efforts in multiple fields are highly important elements which would help in interrelating between different businesses, and guaranteeing their sustainability.

In terms of his participation in the development of the work of civil society institutions, Mr. Nass is a Board Member of Bahrain Philanthropic Society. Moreover, he has an active role in promoting the principles of community partnership through his previous chairmanship of the Board of Directors of Muharraq Club in addition to his previous membership in the Board of Directors of Muharraq Parents Care Home.

An independent non-governmental, non-profit regional legal entity established to support the trade cooperation among Arab Countries and achieve economic unity at the levels of commerce and investment.

An organization, located in Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is considered among the most important institutional frameworks that support the private sector in GCC countries, where it has been representing Gulf economic interests since its inception in 1979.

  • Proposing initiatives for various business sectors which would lead to prosperity and self-sustainability.
  • Supporting any economically affected sectors by analyzing their conditions and recommending the proper solutions.

Contractors Committee - Bahrain Chamber of Commerce & Industry - Chairman

BCCI is the main representative of the private sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and it links between the sector and the foreign trade, investments and global business community.

Responsibilities & Achievements

  • Being an effective member for 8 years during which various suggestions were proposed regarding the constructors’ sector.
  • Voicing out to the concerned entities all related issues, such as: supplies, prices, resources, FIDIC Contracts, etc.

Bahrain Economic Development Board - Board Member

2018 – present

An investment promotion agency that aims at attracting investors to the Kingdom of Bahrain and supporting initiatives that develop the investment sector.

Responsibilities & Achievements

  • Being one of the main representatives of the privet sector at the Board.
  • Contribution to achieving all goals of the Board that include inviting more investments to the Kingdom by establishing international connections and agreements.

Higher Education Council – Secretariat General Council - Ex-Council Member

Established in 2006 to regulate, promote and monitor the higher education sector in the Kingdom. It aims to improve the performance of universities by evaluating and regulating the educational programmes.

Responsibilities & Achievements

  • Contribution to assessing the educational institutions’ outcome and measuring their progress.
  • Recommending the proper initiatives aiming to develop procedures and methods of the teaching process.
  • Participation in improving the quality of education through the support of private sector.

National Initiative for Agricultural Development - Consultative Council - Ex-Council Member

Launched in 2010 to implement the directives of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) aiming to achieve her future vision of developing the agricultural sector.

Responsibilities & Achievements

  • Contribution of Nass Landscapes with multiple projects supporting objectives of the initiative. The company is a sub-division of Nass Contracting established in 1996 which offers professional services in the field of landscape construction, maintenance and horticulture.
  • Participation of Nass Landscapes in many editions of Bahrain International Garden Show over the years.

Through his position as Second Vice-Chairman, the businessman Mr. Mohammed Abdul Jabbar Al Kooheji contributes to the integrated efforts of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry to maintain continuance progress of the national economy and provide its various sectors with all means of development. Mr. Waleed Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo is a leading businessman with a long experience in information and communication technology as well as strategy and leadership. He is the Chairman of several companies, such as: Motor City Co. WLL, Kanoo Consulting Services and Creative Knowledge for Conferences & Exhibitions. In addition, Mr. Kanoo is the Director of Ebrahim K. Kanoo Co. BSC, Kanoo IT, Security One and American Chamber of Commerce. He also holds the position of Vice Chairman of French Chamber of Commerce and Bahraini-French Business Club. Mr. Kanoo served Bahrain Chamber of Commerce & Industry for two sessions as the Vice Treasurer and one session as Chairman of the Steering Group, which are two essential roles.

He chaired several technical committees for special projects while being an active member of several joint committees with local ministries as well as regional countries. Mr. Kanoo took part in several studies and workshops and presented the Chamber in various international events.

He has attended many conferences and seminars on leadership & entrepreneurial studies, information, communication, technology, family business as well as societies & organizations. In addition, he established societies and clubs while actively structuring and managing them.

Besides his leading business experience, Mr. Salahuddin is a passionate researcher and writer whose name is associated with aviation, history, and trade. He has various contributions to philanthropy in addition to being an active member at a number of civil and social associations. Along with celebrating 50 years of success in the business life by following the principles of credibility, trust, great quality and excellent customer service, Mr. Salahuddin has keen interest to publish articles in both Arabic and English Bahraini newspapers.

Served as GM Enterprise Sales in Batelco Bahrain, and CEO in Batelco Subsidiary Saudi Arabia, COO Batelco Jordan and CEO of Batelco Subsidiary (Arabian Network) in Bahrain prior to forming his own business.
