Based on Article (36) of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Law promulgated by Legislative Decree No. (48) of 2012, which stipulates:

“The Board of Directors shall form, from among the members of the Chamber and such experts whose assistance it deems necessary, permanent and temporary committees to undertake certain tasks. It may also form joint committees with ministries, government authorities, and institutions to discuss matters of mutual interest.”

Joint Committee between the Ministry of Tourism and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The committee serves as a framework for communication on the needs of establishments operating in the tourism sector and related activities, the challenges they face, and the communication of their views and proposals. It also contributes to developing visions and initiatives aimed at advancing the tourism sector, improving its business environment, encouraging investment, and strengthening the private sector’s contribution to its development.

Functions and Responsibilities of the Joint Committees

The committees are responsible for discussing matters and issues of concern to the commercial and industrial sectors and conveying the views of the private sector to decision-makers in the relevant official authorities. The key areas of interest to the Chamber’s representatives on the joint committees include the following:

• Formulating the views and contributions of the private sector to the country’s economic development strategy, in line with the directions of the political leadership regarding the future of the national economy and in accordance with Economic Vision 2030 across various fields, in order to keep pace with rapid and successive regional and international economic developments and changes.

• Enhancing Bahrain’s reputation and its prominent position at the regional and global levels in the economic, commercial, and financial fields.

• Increasing the role and effectiveness of the private sector in driving economic development and harnessing its significant potential to build a better future for the national economy and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

• Emphasizing the role of the private sector by ensuring its participation in formulating all decisions and legislation related to the development and stimulation of the country’s economic environment in the commercial, industrial, and economic fields.

• Seeking the Chamber’s views, as the representative of the private sector, on all laws and procedures related to commercial and industrial activities before their adoption.

• Raising issues of concern to the private sector that affect its progress by addressing the obstacles and challenges faced by Bahraini business owners.
