Speaking at the meeting, Nass commended the Kanoo family’s significant national role in supporting knowledge-based and institutional projects that reflect their commitment to serving the nation and community. He emphasized that the Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo Award is a distinguished national initiative that promotes a culture of scientific research and honors research excellence in priority areas.
Nass highlighted that over the past eight years, the Chamber has prioritized strengthening its analytical and research framework by developing the Studies and Initiatives Department and establishing a Strategic Think Tank, a unit that focuses on providing proactive insights into economic challenges and opportunities, supporting the Chamber's mission to aid the private sector.
The meeting also reviewed several strategic proposals for collaboration between the Chamber and the award. Key suggestions included creating an online platform or a joint coordination committee to identify local economic priorities, directing researchers' efforts toward issues that directly impact the business environment, and introducing a new sub-category within the award dedicated to applied economic research that offers practical, implementable solutions.
Additionally, it was proposed to encourage member companies to fund or adopt research results relevant to their activities, in exchange for institutional and media incentives that enhance their status as partners in development. Another initiative discussed was the establishment of a joint Business Lab between the award and the Chamber, which would test the results of economic studies in a semi-practical environment before wider implementation.
The meeting was attended by several members of the Chamber's Board of Directors, Mohammed Abdul Jabbar Al Koohji, Second Vice Chairman; Waleed Kanoo, vice Treasurer and Head of the Committees Steering Group; Yusuf Salahuddin, Board Member; and Sawsan Abu Al-Hassan, Board Member.
