Bahrain Chamber Highlights the Role of Charity in Sustainable Development

Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber, Nabeel Kanoo, affirmed that charitable work is deeply rooted in the Kingdom of Bahrain, reflecting the longstanding values of solidarity, compassion, and giving. He commended the support extended to charitable and humanitarian initiatives by the Kingdom’s leadership, as well as the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa in advancing Bahrain’s humanitarian and charitable work.

Marking the International Day of Charity, Kanoo noted that charitable work is an important contributor to sustainable development, social cohesion, and improved quality of life. He highlighted the significant role of Bahrain’s business community in supporting charitable and humanitarian initiatives both locally and abroad.

He emphasized the need to further strengthen institutional charity and develop sustainable and impactful corporate social responsibility programs, particularly in areas such as youth empowerment, education and training, entrepreneurship, and supporting vulnerable groups.

Kanoo also stressed that the private sector’s contribution extends beyond financial support to include professional expertise, knowledge, technical capabilities, mentoring, training, and volunteering, thereby maximizing the economic and social impact of charitable initiatives.

Kanoo reaffirmed the Bahrain Chamber’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with governmental, civil society, and humanitarian organizations, while encouraging businesses to develop impactful and innovative community initiatives. He concluded by emphasizing that a strong economy and a cohesive society are mutually reinforcing, and that Bahrain’s business community will continue to play an active role in the Kingdom’s journey of giving and national development.
