Director of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Complaints Support Department at Bahrain Chamber, Isa Murad, affirmed that micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are a key pillar of the economy and account for the largest share of commercial registrations and businesses in Bahrain. He highlighted their role in creating jobs, stimulating economic activity, and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.
Murad explained that the SMEs and Complaints Support Department plays a pivotal role in following up on business owners’ needs, communicating their views to authorities, and contributing to solutions that support business growth and sustainability.
He affirmed Bahrain Chamber’s commitment to supporting the private sector and safeguarding its interests, while strengthening cooperation with authorities to ensure business continuity. He noted that the workshop aims to familiarize business owners with national initiatives and programs and available mechanisms.
The workshop also featured a presentation on the Chamber’s efforts to support SMEs, including the “Tajer’s Voice” platform and the Department’s role in receiving and following up on business owners’ inquiries and complaints. Coordination with liaison officers at government entities helps accelerate the resolution of challenges facing the private sector.
For his part, Director of the Public Affairs Department at Tamkeen, Ahmed Janahi, presented the “Musanada” Program, which supports the stability and recovery of MSMEs affected by the Iranian aggression through financial and operational solutions that ensure business continuity and job preservation.
Program provides grants for damage repairs and operating expenses for up to three months, as well as support covering up to 100% of profits on working capital financing loans, with a grace period of up to 12 months and repayment of up to three years. Applications remain open for three months for eligible enterprises across sectors.
The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion, during which Tamkeen and Bahrain Chamber representatives addressed participants’ questions on support streams, eligibility criteria, and application mechanisms.
