She noted that ensuring the continuity of family businesses across generations has become an economic necessity linked to market stability and private-sector growth. In this regard, the Chamber’s Board has made completing the Guideline Programme for the Governance of Bahraini Family Businesses a priority for its 31st term, with the aim of strengthening their organizational and administrative structures and promoting sound institutional practices.
Almoayed explained that effective corporate governance helps clarify roles and responsibilities, establish a clear relationship between ownership and management, improve decision-making, and develop appropriate frameworks for leadership succession and the transfer of responsibilities between generations.
She highlighted Bahrain’s advanced economic and regulatory environment, which provides a supportive foundation for the growth and expansion of family businesses. She stressed the importance of strengthening institutional management and strategic planning to help these businesses respond effectively to economic and investment developments and maintain their competitiveness.
She also emphasized the importance of developing national talent and young leaders within family businesses to ensure the transfer of institutional knowledge and experience and prepare the next generation to lead their businesses successfully. She encouraged family businesses to adopt best management practices and explore investment and expansion opportunities in local and international markets.
Almoayed concluded by noting that family businesses represent an important part of Bahrain’s economic heritage and have contributed significantly to the national economy over the decades. Supporting their long-term sustainability, she said, is an investment in the resilience and future of the national economy and strengthens the private sector’s role as a key partner in economic development.
