Khalid Juma: Today's economic competitiveness is linked to the speed of adaptation and the transformation of challenges into opportunities

Vice Treasurer of the Bahrain Chamber, Khalid Juma, affirmed that Bahrain’s private sector is presented with promising growth opportunities, supported by an advanced legislative and economic framework and a clear development vision that has strengthened Bahrain’s position as an attractive regional business and economic hub.

He noted that rapid global economic changes require businesses to improve efficiency, strengthen flexibility and respond more quickly to emerging developments. Economic competitiveness, he said, is no longer measured by market size alone, but also by businesses’ ability to adapt, innovate and capitalize on opportunities effectively.

Juma added that developing the business environment requires an integrated approach that promotes innovation, leverages digital transformation and emerging technologies, and strengthens coordination among relevant stakeholders, creating a more efficient, attractive and sustainable environment for businesses.

He noted that the Bahrain Chamber Board of Directors, chaired by Nabeel Kanoo, has prioritized direct engagement with the private sector, continuously listening to the needs and challenges of business owners and translating their feedback into practical initiatives and proposals in coordination with relevant authorities.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong field presence and engaging directly with different sectors and markets to identify their priorities and needs, noting that effective policies should be grounded in market realities.

Juma said Bahrain’s private sector has demonstrated its ability to adapt to changing circumstances, supported by its experienced workforce, national talent and successful business track record. He stressed the importance of focusing on practical initiatives that strengthen the business environment, enhance competitiveness and reinforce Bahrain’s position as an attractive destination for investment and business.

He concluded by emphasizing that maintaining Bahrain’s economic competitiveness requires effective partnerships and the ability to respond swiftly to changing conditions, creating broader opportunities for sustainable growth and development.
