Kanoo: The "Tamkeen" package is a step to protect the sustainability of national institutions and the stability of Bahraini cadres
Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber, Nabeel Kanoo affirmed that the economic package approved by the Board of Directors of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), chaired by H.H Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court and Chairman of Tamkeen’s Board of Directors, represents an important national initiative to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises affected by the Iranian attacks, enabling them to resume operations, maintain business continuity, and safeguard their national workforce.
He noted that the package reflects the continued attention of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to strengthen the national economy, enhance its competitiveness, and support the private sector’s contribution to sustainable growth.
Kanoo commended H.H. Shaikh Isa bin Salman’s efforts to support the national economy and strengthen private-sector resilience, noting that the package provides targeted initiatives to help businesses navigate economic challenges, maintain operational stability, and safeguard Bahraini jobs.
He highlighted that enabling 7,250 Bahraini companies to benefit from grants and financing aimed at strengthening liquidity and supporting business operations reflects the importance of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in driving economic growth and creating employment opportunities. Supporting these businesses at this stage, he added, will contribute to market stability and business continuity.
Kanoo also praised the package’s three main components: financial grants for directly affected businesses, grants to support essential operating expenses and preserve jobs, and financing facilities to meet operational needs and strengthen liquidity management and business continuity.
He noted that Bahrain Chamber has placed strong emphasis on supporting SMEs and entrepreneurs since the beginning of the current Board term, including through the establishment of a dedicated department to support these businesses, strengthen communication channels with them, monitor their challenges, and develop initiatives and recommendations that promote business sustainability and their contribution to the national economy.
Kanoo concluded by stressing that the current circumstances require closer cooperation between government entities and the private sector to strengthen the resilience of the national economy and its ability to adapt to changing conditions. He reaffirmed the Chamber’s full support for national initiatives aimed at protecting private-sector businesses and reinforcing their role as a key driver of economic growth in Bahrain.
