On the occasion, Kanoo extended his congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women.
He said the progress achieved by Bahraini women reflects the support provided under His Majesty the King’s reform programme, government policies led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the initiatives of the Supreme Council for Women under the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka. These efforts have contributed to advancing equal opportunities and strengthening women’s participation across various sectors.
Kanoo noted that the private sector reflects the growing economic contribution of Bahraini women, whether as business owners, investors and entrepreneurs or in executive and leadership positions. Active individual commercial registrations owned by Bahraini women accounted for approximately 43% of all active individual commercial registrations owned by Bahrainis in 2023, highlighting their strong presence in business and entrepreneurship.
He added that greater female participation contributes to expanding the entrepreneurial base, diversifying economic activity and increasing productivity. Supporting women-led businesses and expanding their access to promising sectors, he said, are essential to strengthening the private sector’s growth and competitiveness.
Kanoo also highlighted the Chamber’s commitment to involving businesswomen and women entrepreneurs in its committees, initiatives and economic dialogues, drawing on their expertise in shaping proposals and perspectives on the business environment.
He stressed the importance of continued cooperation between the Chamber, the Supreme Council for Women and relevant authorities to expand opportunities for women in promising sectors, the digital economy and innovation, while supporting the growth of women-owned businesses and their access to new markets and opportunities.
