Kanoo highlighted the banking sector’s vital role in supporting economic activity, noting that outstanding loans and credit facilities to resident economic sectors reached approximately BHD 13.4 billion at the end of April 2026, with businesses accounting for 40.8% of the total.
He commended Bahraini financial institutions for supporting the national economy and stressed the Chamber’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the sector to develop practical financing solutions that meet business needs while maintaining banking stability.
Kanoo emphasized the importance of expanding short-term financing, invoice and receivables financing, contract and purchase order financing, and flexible credit facilities. He also called for broader supply chain financing options to accelerate supplier payments and improve cash flow.
He further urged banks to enhance credit assessments by considering account activity, sales, cash flows, operational performance and existing contracts, alongside established banking requirements. Streamlined application procedures and faster decisions, particularly for businesses with sound financial and operational records, are equally important.
He noted that liquidity pressures can affect entire supply chains, making timely financing essential to business continuity. Supporting companies before temporary financial difficulties escalate into defaults, including through flexible debt rescheduling in line with banking regulations, would help businesses restore cash flow and sustain operations.
Kanoo reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to continued dialogue with banks and financial institutions to develop effective financing solutions that serve the needs of businesses and strengthen cooperation between the commercial and banking sectors, supporting private-sector growth and the national economy.
