The seminar aimed to strengthen legal awareness among entrepreneurs and business owners, highlighting common contractual mistakes during the early stages of business operations and their potential consequences. Discussions focused on practical lessons, clearly defined contractual obligations, and legal and insurance measures to minimize risks and prevent disputes.
The seminar featured Mohammed Al Sulaiti, entrepreneur and owner of DNA Studios, and Ali Shaaban, Chief Executive Officer of Motor Insurance Services at Solidarity. The panel discussion was moderated by Ali Al Aali, lawyer, legal consultant, and Executive Director of Alaali | Lex Maxima. Speakers shared practical insights into the legal, commercial, and insurance considerations businesses should assess before entering contractual agreements.
Yousif Salahuddin Ibrahim, First Vice Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber, emphasized that legal awareness is essential to protecting businesses, particularly startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). He noted that many challenges faced during the early stages of business development can be avoided through a clear understanding of legal rights, responsibilities, and contractual procedures.
Salahuddin reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to equipping entrepreneurs with the legal knowledge and practical skills needed to make informed business decisions, manage operations effectively, and comply with regulatory requirements.
He explained that the first three years are critical to establishing a business’s foundations, as contractual relationships with partners, suppliers, and customers take shape. Understanding contract terms, liabilities, and legal obligations is therefore vital to safeguarding business interests and ensuring long-term stability.
He added that the program offers practical guidance drawn from real business experiences, helping participants identify common mistakes and take preventive measures before legal complications arise.
Salahuddin stressed that strengthening legal literacy contributes to a more resilient and competitive private sector by enabling businesses to protect their resources, maintain operational stability, and pursue growth opportunities.
The “Protect Your Business” program is a joint initiative between the Bahrain Chamber and the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies. Delivered through a series of in-person and online seminars, it aims to enhance understanding of commercial legislation and promote sound business practices among entrepreneurs, traders, and SMEs.
