Speaking while chairing the council’s inaugural meeting, Mr Kanoo welcomed leading Bahraini economic figures and former board members, describing the advisory body as a crucial platform for economic and commercial consultation.
He noted that members’ extensive cross-sector experience will assist the chamber in evaluating business challenges, anticipating opportunities, and shaping strategic direction, draft legislation, and economic studies.
The council aims to balance development goals with business owners’ interests by offering market-informed recommendations to refine legislation, enhance private sector competitiveness, and drive sustainable growth.
During the session, members reviewed regulatory and legislative proposals referred by government authorities to align commercial interests with national priorities.
Abdulwahab Al Hawaj was appointed co-ordinator of the Consultative Council to liaise directly with the chamber’s board of directors. Council members praised the initiative and reaffirmed their readiness to contribute actionable insights to reinforce Bahrain’s business environment and broader economic development.
