Bahrain and Hong Kong to Strengthen Economic Cooperation

Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sameer Nass, expressed Bahrain's commitment to enhancing trade and commercial ties with Hong Kong, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the economic partnership and supporting business projects and investments between the private sectors of both countries to foster growth, prosperity, and sustainable development while advancing the mutual interests of both sides.

 

Mr. Nass's remarks came during a meeting held at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which hosted a trade delegation from Hong Kong led by His Excellency Mr. Oscar Chow, the Honorary Consul of Bahrain in Hong Kong, and Mr. Jonathan Lampert, Chairman of the Asia, Middle East, and Africa Committee of  Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.

 

Speaking at the event,  Nass commended the increasing trade exchange between the two countries, calling for efforts to develop and strengthen the economic cooperation through the activation of recently signed agreements between both sides.

 

Khalid Mohamed Najibi, First vice Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber, emphasized the ongoing development and growth of bilateral relations between Bahrain and Hong Kong in various fields. He highlighted the mutual commitment to enhance and develop these relations, driving them towards broader levels of cooperation and joint action, and building upon past achievements, which will contribute to realizing mutual goals and interests. Najibi stressed the importance of enhancing coordination between the private sectors of both countries to maximize trade volume.

 

Mr. Oscar Chow, highlighted the significant role played by the Joint Business Association between Bahrain and Hong Kong, established in 2003, in enhancing economic relations between Bahrain and the People's Republic of China, particularly Hong Kong. He noted that the trade delegation's visit to Bahrain represented the largest since the COVID-19 pandemic, reflecting a genuine desire to promote investment and development.

 

Similarly, Jonathan Lambert, emphasized the longstanding trade relations between the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. He urged the activation of mutual agreements to achieve the desired growth in these relations, translating into increased trade and economic cooperation between both sides.

 

Mr. Ian Lindsay, Advisor to the Economic Development Board, underscored the importance of economic relations between Bahrain and Hong Kong, highlighting numerous promising opportunities for investment partnership between Bahrain and Hong Kong.

 

During the bilateral meetings, economic developments in Bahrain and Hong Kong were discussed, with a focus on renewable energy, industrial projects, construction, healthcare, general trade, and financial technology sectors.
